4th Class enjoyed a terrific day out in Carrigaline at a 6-a-side soccer blitz organised by the FAI. 4 teams from the school competed against teams from Bandon, Clonakilty and Gardiner’s Hill. The boys played their hearts out and earned some well-deserved victories.
Two teams of young science boffins from 5th and 6th class participated in the Lifetime Lab Primary Science Quiz in UCC. The boys remained competitive through 8 rounds of challenging questions. It was a memorable night, enjoyed by all.
Scoil Eoin recently had the honour of hosting the new Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Deirdre Forde. The boys of 6th class were treated to a question and answer session during which they learned all about the many duties of the Lord Mayor. Perhaps more than a few were inspired to pursue a career in politics.
A huge thank you to the inspiring coaches from Munster Rugby who are back putting 6th class through their paces. The boys’ Sciath na Scol campaign came to a close with a tight game against Crosshaven. Unfortunately, the boys lost their final match but they did us proud, battling right to the bitter end. It is with heavy hearts that we bid a fond farewell to Ms. Kane who has decided to retire after so many wonderful years teaching in Scoil Eoin. Ms. Kane was a dedicated member of staff and a phenomenal teacher. Happy retirement Anne. Your kind words of wisdom will be sorely missed.
The boys from the Green School Committee are currently engaged in a very interesting experiment, testing the air quality around the school by measuring NO2 levels. Over 100 schools around Ireland have installed their GLOBE Air Quality Tubes in a massive collective effort to better understand traffic-related air pollution around our schools.
