Lunchtime chess started this Thursday and the library was teeming with eager young chess masters in the making. Beginners and experienced players from 4th, 5th and 6th class are welcome to attend. The first few sessions will all be based on mini-games designed to improve skills and familiarise players with the different pieces.
Our green-fingered 5th class boys are busy picking all the tasty herbs and vegetables from the school garden. Ms. Kane supervised the planting last June and the vegetables were growing all summer. The planting beds are now bulging with tomatoes, potatoes, spring onions, courgettes and rosemary.
Welcome back, everybody, for the beginning of another fantastic school year in Scoil Eoin. The corridors have been buzzing with excitement once again all week. A very special welcome to all our new Junior Infants who are embarking upon their primary school adventure with us. We hope you enjoy every minute.
Ms. Creamer’s Lego builders have been hard at work for the last few months. The boys have been working in teams, learning about cooperation and fine-tuning their instructional language. All the contributors were brimming with pride when presenting their magnificent creations.
Congratulations to our very own soccer stars Peter Allen Mulroy and Liam O’Brien who play for Ballincollig F.C. Under Elevens. After performing well all season Peter was awarded player of the year by the coaching staff and Liam was named by the players. Well done boys. Keep up the great work next season.
6th Class enjoyed a busy few weeks as their time in Scoil Eoin drew to an end. Sports Day 2022 was a roaring success! The boys had a fantastic day jam-packed with games, competitions and other fun-filled activities. Infants to 6th class participated in a variety of thrilling races including sack races, wheelbarrow races, three-legged races and our challenging obstacle course. Thank you Ms. Healy for organising such a wonderful day.
This summer we will be saying farewell to one of our cherished members of staff. Anne O’Neill is retiring after working as an S.N.A. in Scoil Eoin for 25 years. Scoil Eoin Parents & Friends Association will have a coffee dock on location for the school sports day next Friday, June 17th. Tea, coffee & a small supply of treats, will be available for purchase. All money raised will go back into the school for funding for activities for the pupils.
The members of Mr. Moloney's chess club have been honing their skills and learning new strategies for the last 2 months. The boys have learned to be great competitors and eagerly look forward to their weekly bouts. Good luck in your final matches today, boys!
