After an action filled day in Kinsale, Scoil Eoin’s A Table Tennis Team captured the crown of Munster Champions. The boys began the tournament by playing against Cloghroe in both singles and doubles, and beat them six nil. They were off to a flying start! Next up was Cloughjordan in both singles and doubles again. The boys were thrilled to win theses matches six nil again!
Next up were Summercove, who have proved tricky opposition recently! Tension was high, but the boys were feeling confident after a great morning. The boys won two out of the four singles matches against them. It was all down to the doubles. Cian and Ryan played together, and Ciarán and Jack played together. Both doubles matches went to the fifth and final set. After a very long day and huge effort all around, the boys gave it their absolute all and won both matches, to their absolute delight!! What an achievement, to bring the Munster title back to Scoil Eoin!
Each of the four boys played his heart out and we are incredibly proud of them. Well done Cian, Ciarán, Jack and Ryan. Thank you to Shane O’ Connor and to head coach Ivan Shorten for their invaluable work with the boys. Thank you also to Mr. Landers who was there every step of the way with the boys today! Next stop for these athletes is Dublin on April 28th for the All-Ireland Table Tennis finals!
