Scoil Eoin boys participated in a school commemoration pageant today. It opened with a rousing version of “The Foggy Dew”. 6th Class boys recited “I See His Blood Upon the Rose”, penned by Joseph Mary Plunkett. The 1916 Proclamation was then read by 6th Class and explained by 5th.
The signatories and Cumann na mBan introduced themselves before the carefully choreographed fight scen ensued. Every member of the school audience was enthralled! One of the 6th Class boys read facts about the execution. Mrs Kane then recited Pádraig Pearse’s solemn poem “The Mother”. The Pageant concluded with a heartfelt rendition of “Amhrán na bhFiann”.
