On Tuesday 15th September, Scoil Eoin received the National Flag from members of the Defence Forces. Sergeant Denis Mc Garry and Gunner Jim Donovan visited the school to make the presentation. Sergeant Mc Garry spoke to the Senior boys in the school about the 1916 Proclamation, both explaining and reading it.
Colm and Conor from Sixth Class proudly accepted the flag on behalf of the school.
The boys asked very intelligent questions of the officers and listened carefully to the answers. At the end the boys stood and proudly sang Amhrán na bhFiann, a fitting end to the beginning of the Centenary celebrations of 1916.
